I was born on May 26, 1980 in Durbanville , was a scholar at Paarl Boys Primary and completed my school career at Paarl Boys’ High in 1998. Since my early years as a boy I was intrigued by the finer details in my everyday surroundings, from the delicate detail inside of flowers to the movements of the smallest little insects.
During my high school career , my artistic side had the opportunity to evolve through the Jack Meyer Art Centre in Paarl where I had Jewellery Manufacturing and Art History as Higher Grade subjects until I matriculated.
I enrolled in a Jewellery Design and- Manufacturing course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, where I achieved my B-TECH Degree in 2004.
I started my apprenticeship at Kai Schmidt Jewellers in Franschhoek where I learned some of the finer skills in jewellery making, the way the German masters do it.
Curious about international trends and styles I travelled to the United Kingdom where I worked with Danish designer Kamilla Ruberg for a while and eventually settled in Glasgow, Scotland, where I worked as Senior Jeweller and Technical Advisor for John Macintyre and Son until my return in 2009.
Back in South Africa I immediately joined the team of goldsmiths at David Bolding’s prestigious company in Cape Town , where I was responsible for the Specialised Laser Repairs section as well as the creation of various high end jewellery pieces.
In January 2011, I started my own business, with my studio and workshop at Uitkoms, the smallholding where I live in Windmeul , Agter-Paarl.
